We started our week with an exciting workshop led by a band called Vinyl Steppers. They played some jazz music and taught us about the instruments they play.
We also listened to some classical music, focusing on the song In the Hall of the Mountain King. We listened to different sections and thought about the image we could see during each part. We also thought about different colours for each section and created art work and acrostic poems based on our interpretation of the music. We also created some interpretative dances. What a fun week!
As part of our DT and Geography learning we designed, made and evaluated sushi. We carefully chopped carrots and cucumber, placed rice on the Nori sheet and then chopped it into smaller pieces. We then tasted the sushi and evaluated our final product!
Year 2 visited Leeds as part of our Geography learning. We planned a route in class and followed our maps to spot different places that we have been learning about such as the Civic Hall, Trinity and the Corn Exchange. We also enjoyed a picnic in Kirkstall Abbey. We were surprised at how big some of the buildings were and we all enjoyed looking up at the beautiful roof in the Corn Exchange.
To mark Rob Burrow's birthday, schools in Leeds took part in a special event where a ball was passed from school to school. Children also took part in different events, focusing on how to work as a team.
In Year 2 we completed 7 different events in 7 minutes as part of the event.
In Art we drew self portraits and thought about what art meant to us. Some of us thought about our favourite colour and others thought about different art skills such as sketching.
We had a surprise in PE this week! Ronnie the Rhino came to join us. He helped us to take part in a range of games that helped us to develop our team work and our listening skills. What a fun PE lesson!
