Year 1  used their knowledge of number bonds to 10 to build triangles in different ways. This reflected their prior learning and allowed them to practice a new skill in a problem solving context 

Year 5 used their knowledge of division to solve this problem. 

They focussed on working systematically and thinking carefully about how starting points are important to consider when solving mathematical problems.
